The girls return to school

The obligatory back to school post.  The start of September is the start of the academic year in the UK and thus the, seemingly never-ending, summer break comes to an end.  The girls’ school broke up a little earlier than many of the schools, with inset days tagged on the end of term.  Their last day was therefore the 18th July and today, 48 days later, the girls returned to the academic life. A trip to the seaside and a barbecue at work!

August is traditionally a busy time for me at work.  It is the start of the football seasons, especially our biggest client:  The Premier League, and so my days off are extra special.  Therefore, as this is the only month that the Baguettes do not go to school there is a lot of pressure on Lucinda to be the sole carer for our children, while I spend an inordinate amount of time at work.  As a consequence, Lucinda is keen for us to book trips so that we can have some quality family time together.

As fate would have it, I had the first two days of August off and so days out were planned, although as you will see I did not leave work behind for both days. Read more

Tenth Wedding Anniversary

I promised this update in the last write-up and for those of you that didn’t know it will answer the riddle as to why the Baguettes were at Nanny Fran’s for the first week of the school holidays.

At 14:00 on the 20th July 2007 at St. David’s school in Ashford, after a morning of torrential rain Lucinda and I were married.  Those of you with a basic grasp of maths will immediately notice that this means that Lucinda and I have been married for ten years (and for those of you without a basic grasp of maths but a keen eye will have noticed that I have already told you this in the title of update).
